To the Saints in San Carlos:
This past Sunday we celebrated the end of Pentecost with the celebration of the Feast of the Reign of Christ. Our featured scripture was the report of the last days of Saint Paul from the Book of Acts:
"Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open."
Every day, and especially on Sunday, we share the good news of Jesus Christ. Our church door is always open.
Next Sunday begins the season of Advent. Our readings will be a beloved prophecy of Isaiah:
Isaiah 11:1-6
There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch shall grow out of his roots. And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD.
and the also beloved Song of Simeon:
Luke 2:31-32
"Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word;for mine eyes have seen thy salvationwhich thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples,a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel."
Do join us for worship during this holy season of darkness and light.
Appended at bottom of this letter are minutes from Sunday's council meeting, as well as an invitation to a holiday craft fair at a local winery this evening.
Even though Advent has not yet begun, it is not too early to announce that there will be an Epiphany Party at the Willard House on January 6 at 12 noon. Details to follow.
We received an email from our beloved Deacon Teo:
